Annual Monson Food Truck & Music Festival to take place this month

Date: 9/13/2022

MONSON – The annual Monson Food Truck & Music Festival will take place Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Veterans Field. There will be a $5 admission fee for those 18 years of age and up. All proceeds will go to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund.

The yearly event is run by Jean Bailey and her husband, a two-time cancer survivor.

“My husband just feels very strongly about giving back to Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund, so this is how we’ve been doing that. It’s not just him, it’s so many other people in our surrounding communities that go to Dana Farber,” said Bailey.

They have donated close to $60,000 to Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund and hope to raise $20,000 this year.

“So many people that come to this have been stricken by cancer. Some of the doctors that we know down at Dana Farber also come to our event. They are amazed that this little town of Monson puts on this event,” said Bailey.

The event will have over 18 food trucks, food tents and vendors. There will also be a beer and wine tent, face painting, Maggie the Clown, corn hole games, inflatables, free sight and vision hearing screenings by the Lions Club and the Lions Club Lucky Duck Race.

The beer and wine tent will have Exhibit A Brewery, Leadfoot Brewery and Hardwick Wineries beverages. For live entertainment, the festival will feature performances by Cooper Jones, Peter Newland and Radio X, James Montgomery and Aquanett.

Attendees are reminded to bring their own chair or blanket to enjoy the event. Pets are also allowed but must be on a leash. Backpacks and coolers of any kind are prohibited.

To raise more money, Bailey has put together a Monson Food Truck Festival advertising booklet which is available for purchase at Monson Savings Bank, Adams Market, myMonson and the Monson Town Offices.

According to Bailey, last year’s event had over 4,000 attendees.

“It was incredible. It was insane,” she said.

She hopes that this event will be a fun day for the whole family and that they will be able to meet their fundraising goal to support such an important cause.

“A couple of people that we know just passed away from cancer and it’s, like, come on. When is it ever going to end? I just hope that everyone comes, has a good time and appreciates what we’re doing and the cause that we’re raising the money for. Everyone you talk to knows someone that’s been stricken with cancer,” said Bailey.
