Monson announces candidates for upcoming town election

MONSON – The Monson annual town election is set to take place on June 14.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., registered voters in town can visit Memorial Hall, 198 Main St., to cast their ballot.

Town Clerk Mary Watson said there will only be two contested races: Select Board and School Committee.

Candidates competing for a three-year Select Board term are Anthony Allard, Lindsey Esser, John Morrell and Robert Caddy. No incumbents are seeking re-election. Watson said residents can only vote for one candidate.

Three candidates are vying for two seats on the School Committee. Candidates include incumbent Colleen Flynn, and challengers Edward Maia and Jamie Murphy.

Incumbent Peter Matrow, town moderator, is running unopposed for a three-year term.

Incumbent Russell Bressette Jr. is also running unopposed for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors.

Incumbent David Beaudoin, cemetery commissioner, is seeking re-election for a three-year term.

Madeline Goodrich, an incumbent of the Parks and Recreation Department, is running for a three-year term.

Paul C. DeMaio, incumbent, is running for another three-year term on the Water and Sewer Department.

Lastly, incumbent Shirley Bagg is seeking re-election for a five-year term on the Housing Authority.

Watson said there are 6,212 registered voters in Monson. There will be no early voting prior to the election.
