MONSON — The Monson Arts Council is hosting its 44th annual Holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 25 and 26 across four locations on Main St., the organization recently announced.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26. Fair vendors will be divided between Monson United Methodist Church, Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson, Memorial Hall and the House of Art, according to the organization’s announcement. All locations are within walking distance and will have free attendance.
The fair is known for its variety of homemade items including clothes, decorations, books and pottery. Food will also be offered at Memorial Hall and the Monson United Methodist Church, the organization said.
In addition, the Monson Arts Council is hosting a community carol sing this year at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. The tradition, which began in 2022, evolved from the Girl Scouts’ carol sing events held after the fair in previous years.
“We’re trying to involve the community to ring in the Christmas season,” MAC Craft Fair Coordinator Chase Barnett explained.
Following the Monson Community Carol Sing, Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at the Monson Fire Department at 4:30 p.m. riding on a fire truck. He will be available to meet and take pictures with children free of charge, Barnett stated. Refreshments will also be available.
This year, more than 65 vendors are attending the fair and will be maintaining a booth for both days of the event, Barnett said, highlighting how much excitement the event brings to the region.
“We could never take away the event from the town,” Barnett said. While most vendors are local, many travel to the event, ranging from Williamstown to Framingham as well as across Connecticut. Some have even been coming to the event for 20 years, she stated.
Vendors’ purchase of a fair booth directly supports the Monson Art Council by helping to fund projects such as the MAC theater program and the annual Spring Art Exhibition, Barnett said.
