Academy of Music to require proof of vaccination or test

Date: 9/1/2021

NORTHAMPTON – Due to the rise of COVID-19 delta variant cases, the Academy of Music Theatre will now require all attendees to provide proof of full vaccination, or a negative PCR test taken within the past 72 hours before entering the theatre.

A valid ID and a mask inside the theater while not eating or drinking will also be required upon arrival. Children under the age of 12 can still attend, but they must always wear a mask. Patrons who show up without masks can purchase one at the theatre.

Any current ticket holders who lack proof of full vaccination or a negative PCR test may request a refund to their original payment method by Sept. 3 by visiting https://www.aomtheatre.com/box-office-info/. More information regarding that can be found on the link, as well.

Youth programs like fall academy classes and other youth productions will also always require masks. “Youth program participants are required to wear masks while in the building, and we will be adhering to state and local health mandates as we decide how to proceed,” said Noel Clark, the box office and marketing manager at the theatre. “The health and safety of our students and staff are our highest priorities.”

According to their website, beginning on Sept. 8, the Academy will conduct all shows at full capacity, and the theatre has a long list of shows that are scheduled from early September to mid-April. According to Clark, the theatre will notify all ticket holders of any cancellations or postponements. The theatre’s seating capacity is 803. “We suggest patrons allow extra time when they get to the theater to accommodate required document checks,” Clark told Reminder Publishing.

Performers can perform unmasked but are still required to follow any protocol outside of that from the city of Northampton.

“We encourage everyone to remain safe and do what they can to help stem the tide of this pandemic, and we hope to see patrons back in theaters soon,” said Clark.

Box office phone hours are 12 to 3 p.m. daily, while online sales are open 24/7. The box office is still closed for in-person sales at this time, according to the website.
