NORTHAMPTON — A handmade artisan shop is making a name for itself in Northampton after it recently had its grand opening ceremony.
Crafter’s Custom Gallery — located in the Maplewood Shops on 2 Conz St., Unit 46 — began with a group of crafters who wanted a space to display their items.
“My best friends, my mom and myself have been looking to open up an artisan shop for a while now,” said Jessica Dziewit, one of the founders and owners. “We are all crafters & wanted to have a space to display our items.”
The new gallery, which offers a variety of items encompassing home décor, apparel, gifts, wreaths, and more, shares a space with NOHO Nutrition on Conz Street.
“We teamed up with NOHO Nutrition to offer a one-stop shop for both of our customers,” said Dziewit. The owner, Jenny [Weber] and I have been friends for many years … we went to school together.”
So far, the custom gallery holds 20 different artisans and they plan on adding five to eight more in the coming week or so. They currently house sewn items, crochet items, 3D printed items, Jewlery, art work, paint poured items, crystal and intention items, cutting boards, snack items, cards, book markers, decor, tumblers, mugs, keychains, earrings, beaded pens, personalized plush, wood burned and painted items, rock and sea glass art, bath and body items and much more.
“We decided we wanted to have a variety of unique handmade items available for our customer,” said Dziewit. “We had many interested artisans send photos of their work & we decided based on photos what would work best in our space.”
Dziewit is the main owner of Crafter’s Custom Gallery but she said her best friends and her mom all partnered to make the store come to life. As of right now, they all run the shop together as a team.
“We felt Northampton would be a great place to open our shop as it is a very art-friendly city,” said Dziewit, when asked why Northampton was the perfect spot. “And subletting from Jenny helps her and her business as well.”
The shop conducted its grand opening ceremony on March 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It officially opened at the end of February.
“Our vision currently is to continue to offer a wide variety of unique items for our customers,” said Dziewit. “We will be offering on-site personalized items with both vinyl & a process called sublimation.”
