Nourish Wellness Cafe reopens with new owner

Date: 3/2/2022

NORTHAMPTON – After being closed for a short few weeks, Nourish Wellness Café and Juice Bar, located on 10 Bridge St., is back open under new ownership after old owners Ashley Niles and Ethan Vandermark decided to move on from the business they cultivated more than half a decade ago.

“The experience of creating and running this business for six years has been incredible,” said the owners, in a statement on social media in mid-January. “We have learned more than we ever expected, we have been blessed with amazing employees, and we have made great friendships with our customers and fellow business owners. We hope to never lose these connections. We whole-heartedly feel that Nourish would not be what it is today without our employees, customers, and local farms and businesses.”

Despite the news, Nourish – which specializes in offering organic, local, and plant-based food, as well as organic smoothies – was able to reopen on Feb. 22 with former manager Casey Flaherty as the new owner.

“I’m most looking forward to bringing even more options to the menu and it will be really nice to serve our smoothies in actual glasses soon,” said Flaherty, when talking about what she is most looking forward to as a new owner. “I love working with our local vendors such as Kitchen Garden Farm and Marty’s Local and I love seeing all the fresh seasonal produce that isn’t around all year and making fun specials. I can’t wait to try out new recipes.”

Flaherty told Reminder Publishing that the business could not add that many items during the worst of the pandemic to the menu due to a short staff, but as the climate improves a little bit, Flaherty said that they will be adding seasonal bowls and new drinks for the community.

“This past year I tried to bring on fresh fruit toppings for smoothie bowls when blueberries and strawberries were in season and when heirloom tomatoes were around, I’d make our Vegan Caprese Toast with local tomatoes, basil and our house-made cashew cheese in place of mozzarella,” Flaherty told Reminder Publishing.

Flaherty, who also has a culinary arts background, added that a new oven will allow Nourish to carry more vegan and gluten-free options for customers.

“Not only does customer service mean a lot to me but I take pride in doing things in a fast and efficient way and look forward to growing our team and teaching others,” said Flaherty. “I think it’s most important for customers to know that although I’m the new owner, I’m going to always be here to ensure that things are running smoothly.”

When asked what the future holds for Nourish, Flaherty said that she plans to take the business to the next level. “What is most important to me is that my staff treats customers the way they want to be treated and gives them the attention and service that they deserve,” said Flaherty. “I want customers to know that they are getting quality, fast service, and that their food is always going to be consistent and delicious. Not to forget, fresh and organic.”
