Three County Fair expects ‘exceptional’ 205th year

Date: 8/30/2022

NORTHAMPTON – The Three County Fair in Northampton is returning Sept. 2 to 5 for its 205th year.

The fair reopened to the public in 2021 after a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. In an interview with Reminder Publishing, General Manager James Przypek said advance ticket sales for this year’s fair are higher than last year’s, as of press time.

“And last year was a very good year,” said Przypek, regarding attendance. “It was just as equal in attendance as 2019, which was an exceptional year.”

Przypek said that vendors this year are similar to past years, as the fair expects to have food “all across the board.”

“Burgers, corn dogs, cotton candy, deep-fried desserts of all kinds, just about anything one can think of will be here this year,” said Przypek. “A lot of options for folks to come on down.”

Aside from vendors, the fair will also feature myriad events for attendees to enjoy. Among them is a show called “World of Wonders,” which Przypek said includes traditional circus performances like sword swallowers, fire eaters, magicians, escape artists, contortionists and snake charmers. This event will occur three times a day every day of the festival.

In typical years, there are usually two music performances happening each day of the fair. This year, however, Przypek said there will be four performances during each day. “That’s something I think will draw a lot of attention,” he said, adding that hot air balloons will also be a spectacle throughout three of the days.

Pryzpek added that people can save money by buying tickets on the Three County Fair website, where there are several discount options for seniors and veterans. The fair is also free for people 11 years of age and younger. The cost is $12 for adults 12 to 64 years of age who pay online and $15 for those who pay at the gate. Seniors and veterans only pay $9 online and $10 at the gate. Like last year, parking is free for everyone.

“We also have Veteran Appreciation Day on the Sunday of the fair,” said Przypek. “There will be free admission for all veterans and active military that day.”

When asked about the fair’s legacy as it settles into its second century of existence, Przypek said it always starts with the community. “For more than two centuries, this fair has delivered memories, and it has become one of the most beloved in the area,” said Przypek. “We’re really proud of what we can bring to the community and the way the community supports us.”
