PALMER — Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School appointed Brenda Turner as the new interim principal. Turner steps into the role following the departure of former Principal Carrie Auffrey.
Turner is a Pathfinder Tech alumna, graduating as valedictorian in 1992. She has spent the past 23 years serving in various roles within the Pathfinder Tech community, including school counselor.
Turner was promoted to director of guidance, where she oversaw guidance operations and admissions. Most recently, she was the multi-tiered systems of support coordinator in the Student Services Office, leading school social-emotional and mental health support services.
“I was fortunate to have a phenomenal high school experience at Pathfinder Tech. To have the opportunity to serve in a professional capacity here for over 20 years and give back to the community that provided so much to me has been a dream come true,” Turner stated.
Turner earned both an associate’s and a bachelor’s degree from Bay Path University, with a focus on practical experiences at the Juvenile Courthouse and Superior Court District Attorney’s Offices in Springfield.
Additionally, she holds a master’s degree from Westfield State University. Before her career at Pathfinder Tech, Turner worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for three years.
Superintendent Eric Duda expressed confidence in Turner’s abilities, stating, “I have absolutely no doubt that Pathfinder Tech will shine under her leadership. I have always admired her ability to inspire others. Our school is in great hands with Brenda Turner, and I could not be more pleased that she will be assuming this role.”
Pathfinder Tech serves students from Belchertown, Granby, Hardwick, Monson, New Braintree, Oakham, Palmer, Ware, and Warren.
