SOUTH HADLEY — Members of the South Hadley Bike-Walk Committee met in the Village Commons on July 13 for a Town Bicycle Cruise.
The event was put on in conjunction with the Recreation Department’s weekly Summer Concert Series with a performnace by Whitaker Hill that came following the four-mile loop around town.
It was the first community bike event for this iteration of the bike-ped committee as members said the last mention they heard of an event like this came about 15 years ago. The committee looped through the Mount Holyoke College campus, up Park Street to Mosier Street and back up Rt. 116. The ride showcased the benefits of bike-ability in town. Members added they are hopeful for a cooler day in the future for more turnout from the public for the community-oriented event.
