SOUTHWICK – Firefly Fields is choosing to continue presenting sessions of goat yoga at their Southwick farm on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. after having two sold out sessions.
Lindsay Hale of Firefly Fields said that they will decide to keep hosting goat yoga sessions so long as there is interest. Two, 25–person classes were sold out last week. Goat yoga, as the name implies, is a normal yoga class except it takes place in a pen on the farm, and the participants are surrounded by Hale’s goats.
“The goats were super interactive and played with everybody,” said Hale. “With such a great turnout, we’re going to keep going with it.”
The hour-long classes cost $20 per person. The classes will be run by different instructors each session. Hale said she was inspired to do this from other farms in New England doing similar goat yoga sessions.
“I have a lot of friends throughout New England doing this. But there are not a ton of them in this area,” said Hale.
She decided that they were willing to think outside the box and do something different. While those who attend do participate in the yoga aspect of it, Hale said she thinks most people show up for the goats.
“People who are hardcore into yoga people are probably going to a yoga studio,” said Hale.
While the Sept. 8 session is just about booked, Hale said she would be adding more dates soon. Hale noted that there is a minimum age restriction of 16–years–old with parental consent to attend. For kids younger than that, they offer petting zoos for events and birthday parties as well.
