SOUTHWICK – The Winter Forest and Craft Fair will bring the spirit of the holiday season to Town Hall Dec. 7.
Organized by the Southwick Civic Fund to commemorate Southwick’s 250th anniversary, the event is 4-8 p.m. and features a festival of decorated trees.
Businesses and individuals sponsored the trees, which will be both inside and outside Town Hall, and decorated them in a variety of themes. Visitors can stroll through the forest and vote for their favorite tree.
The forest will be enhanced by carolers, a bonfire, hot chocolate and baked goods, and the jolliest of all elves, Santa Claus himself.
Inside Town Hall, crafters and other vendors will offer numerous gift options for sale, as well as a children’s craft table.
Santa will arrive at 6:30 p.m. Organizer Joseph Deedy said Santa will bring wrapped gifts for children and there will be photo opportunities with Santa.
The indoor forest features artificial trees while outside, freshly cut trees from Southwick’s Coward Farm will bring not only the sights, but the scents, of a tree farm to Town Hall.
“We will also have snow that night if it’s cold enough,” Deedy said, noting he is not a meteorologist but has borrowed the Ski Blandford snow-making machine for the event.
The Southwick Regional School Band and Choir will perform, parading from the fire station to Town Hall.
The entire community is invited to the celebration as well as participate in a town-wide outdoor lighting contest. The contest began Dec. 1 and runs throughout the month, which prizes awarded in several categories. For more information, visit southwick250.org.
