Carnival coming back to Ware, currently seeking vendors of all types

Date: 5/2/2023

WARE — The carnival is coming back to town for the second year in a row and is actively seeking vendors of all types to add to the festivities.

The carnival will take place from June 22-24 at Memorial Field on South Street. The hours are Thursday and Friday, June 22 and 23, from 5-10 p.m., and Saturday, June 24, from 3-8 p.m., with fireworks planned at Grenville Park after the carnival on June 24. The Ware Veterans Fund is organizing and hosting the event.

Ware Veterans Fund Chair John Morrin said the town had been seeking a carnival willing to come to town to continue the tradition of the St. Mary’s church carnival, which stopped several years ago, and finally found an outfit that agreed to do an event in 2022. The carnival company Commerford and Sons will be returning this year after a great turnout last year, Morrin said.

The proceeds of the carnival will go to benefit veterans in town. The Ware Veteran’s Fund, Morrin said, has been in the process of getting the nonprofit approved by the state and federal government, and hopes to have it set up before this year’s carnival. Morrin said the process has taken much longer than the organizers anticipated, and while they are optimistic about a pending approval happening soon, until it does, funds from last year’s carnival are unavailable to use for the intended purpose of helping veterans.

Morrin said the carnival has a number of food, craft, and beer and wine vendors, but they are looking to fill more spots and offer the most variety possible. For more information on becoming a vendor, contact Morrin at 413-949-0716 or johnmorrin13@gmail.com.
