New flower farm blossoming in Ware

Date: 7/29/2022

WARE – Witts End Farm is a brand-new flower farm in town, specializing in cut flowers for bouquet making. Their focus is on bringing farm fresh flowers to the community. For owner/operator Hailee Witt, it’s been a dream of hers to have her own flower farm. She and her husband bought the farm last summer.

“We’re still renovating the house here, but I’ve already broke ground and started growing flowers,” Witt said. “We just recently opened our farm stand. This year we’re sticking to a lot of annuals like sunflowers and snapdragons. As the years go by, we’ll gain more perennials. It’s our first year, so we’re just starting out.”

Right now, Witt is offering a CSA (community supported agriculture) program for the summer where people can buy a subscription to their farm. For those interested in a bouquet subscription go to wittsendfarmware.com. The purchase includes four farm-fresh, quart-sized bouquets, over an eight-week period bi-weekly for $80 plus tax. Purchasers may add local delivery to their order for a one-time fee of $10. Every two weeks from the end of July, early August until mid to late September bouquets can be picked up, or Witt can deliver it. She opened six CSA spots, but only three of those six spots are left. However, Witt said she is playing it by ear - she has room to expand depending on interest.

“I wasn’t planning on doing this originally, but it turns out I have more flowers than I could use,” as Witt explained. “I decided why not go for it and try it out this year. It’s nice to support a local farm. You’ll get the freshest of the fresh and you know exactly where it’s coming from. I think it’s just worth it all around.”

Witts End Farm is located at 50 Webster Rd. The farm stand is stocked Friday through Sunday from dawn to dusk. Witt is open for bouquet orders every day. For questions, email wittsendflowerfarm@gmail.com.
