Ware Board of Selectmen reorganizes after town election

Date: 4/25/2022

WARE- The Ware Board of Selectmen met to discuss a variety of agenda items including their reorganization at their April 19 meeting.

The meeting started with approval of a special event permit for the Ware Business and Civic Association and Ware Lions Club’s upcoming Spring Shop Hop and Pancake Breakfast. The event will take place on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Park and Downtown Shopping District. There will be pancakes, sausage and coffee, along with face painting.

Tickets are $2 for children and $8 for adults.

The Board of Selectmen then voted on their reorganization following the recent town election that took place on April 11. Current Chair Keith Kruckas told the board that he would no longer like to serve as Chair.

“I’ll be honest. As much as I enjoyed doing this, the last couple of months have been pretty taxing. I’m not sure I’ve got it in me to keep doing it with the health stuff I’ve got going on and a few other personal things and family issues,” said Kruckas.

He added that he can’t dedicate the necessary time to the position anymore and needs to focus on other priorities in his life.

The board nominated John Morrin to take his place as chair. Morrin was previously vice chair.

Caitlin McCarthy, former board member, was nominated as the new vice chair. Thomas Barnes will remain the clerk.

During the town election, Joshua Kusnierz was voted onto the board as a new member with a three-year term.

Many agenda items were tabled to be discussed at the next meeting on May 9. This includes the approval of minutes from the April 5 meeting, recognition of service and celebration of retirement for Officer Lu-Ann Czapla and the request for retiree town insurance legal clarification.
