Ware Junior Senior High School welcomes new assistant principal

Date: 11/13/2023

WARE — Former teacher Michael Fazio recently took over as the new assistant principal for Ware Junior Senior High School.

Before this position, Fazio taught math at the high school for six years, where he was known for his strict but enjoyable teaching style, he explained in an interview. Fazio also taught at Tantasqua Regional High School for three years prior to coming to Ware, according to an announcement from Superintendent Michael Lovato.

“One thing I tried to create was a good rapport with students,” Fazio said, stating that his students “had fun but always learned and worked.” When Fazio saw the assistant principal position was open, he decided it would be a good chance to apply his skills to another role.

“I’ve always thought about it [administration] and I know the district and I know the kids,” he stated.

As assistant principal, his new responsibilities include handling discipline issues, assisting with standardized testing and aiding Principal Scott Slattery, Fazio said. He also will continue his role as the high school’s varsity football coach.

When asked about the impact he would like to have on Ware, Fazio highlighted his goal of creating a positive environment at the high school, stating that the school has previously received a “bad rap in the community” and he was looking forward to helping improve its reputation.

“I’m excited to be in this role,” Fazio said, “I wasn’t born in Ware, but I’m fond of the community.”
