WARE — At its Oct. 26 meeting, the Ware Selectboard approved the necessary licenses for new restaurant Bellies Barnyard to open soon on Main Street.
During the meeting, Lori Hazen, who submitted the applications for the licenses, explained how she and her husband Gary Hazen were looking forward to officially opening in November at their new 91 Main St. location.
“We have been looking to grow for over a year now,” she said, describing how much larger the new Ware restaurant will be from their previous location at 109 Masonic Home Rd. in Charlton.
Bellies Barnyard is a full-service breakfast and lunch restaurant, serving dine in and take out. The restaurant was a popular spot in Charlton with more than 44,000 in-person visitors since it opened, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page. This location closed on Oct. 29.
With the approval of their on-oremises alcohol license, as well as their Common Victualler and entertainment licenses, Bellies Barnyard is now able to open its doors for business once the restaurant is completed.
“It’s just jumping the hurdles to get good food for you guys,” Hazen said. She thanked the Selectboard for helping them to finalize their new location as soon as possible.
In return, the Selectboard members all stated their eagerness for the restaurant opening with Selectboard member Nancy Talbot stating that Bellies Barnyard will bring a good change to Ware following the close of well-known restaurant Hanna Devine’s at the same location.
