Majestic Theater to host ‘Valentine Love Songs’ concert

Date: 2/6/2019

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Love is in the air at the Majestic Theater on Feb. 11. Majestic Theater will host a Valentine Love Songs concert presented by The Dan Kane Singers. The one-day only performances will bring love songs to the stage.

There will be both a morning and evening performance of the concert. Musical Director Dan Kane will host the event with vocals performed by Freddie Marion.

Danny Eaton, Producing Director for the Majestic Theater, shared, “Valentine Love Songs is a show we put together each year with Freddie Marion and Dan Kane. These two guys have been performing here in the Valley for decades and are very popular.”

Marion grew up performing as a part of school and church choirs in his hometown of Holyoke. He studied voice at The Hartford Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. Artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Billy Joel and Tony Bennett inspire Marion.

Kane, who has been a Westfield Public Schools teacher for over 33 years, has made performing a large aspect of his life. Kane performed for President Bill Clinton in Washington, produced a Christmas television special for public TV57 and has dozens of albums to his name.

Eaton described what audience members could expect to see at the concert. “Audiences will see Freddie and a few special guests singing popular songs. Freddie Marion is the host and the main draw. Typically, someone from the Dan Kane Singers will join him.” Eaton said.

Marion will perform love songs, standards and Broadway at the Valentine Love Songs concert. This year marks the Valentine Love Songs concert’s 16th year at the Majestic Theater.

Eaton said he recommends the community come together to enjoy the Valentine Love Songs concert. “I can recommend this show. Even though it might seem like an older generation’s show, music, good music, is both timeless and a universal message. My favorite part of the concert is watching the audience responding to this music.” Eaton said.

Tickets for the matinee performance are $22 and $24. Tickets for the evening performance are $24 and $26. The matinee performance begins at 2 p.m. and the evening performance begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available by calling Majestic Theater at 747-7797 or by visiting the theater, located at 131 Elm St in West Springfield.
