WEST SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Motorcycle Show will roar back to the Eastern States Exposition on Jan. 19 and 20. Celebrating its 14th year, the annual event has drawn crowds in from near and far to take part in a common interest: a passion for motorcycles.
Doug Sousa, President of the Outdoor Sports Expo Group, who is hosting the event, shared his excitement for the upcoming show. “This is the 14th annual celebration of this all-brand motorcycle show. True to its original concept, this event brings together future riders and the entrenched bikers of all brands of bikes under one roof. This show proves it’s all about the bikes, with the greatest selection of new motorcycles under one roof that can be found anywhere,” he said.
Spectators at the Springfield Motorcycle Show can expect to see new motorcycles, custom builders, parts and accessories, a bike competition, a fashion show, a tattoo competition, special displays, riding destinations, bike art, riding groups and riding gear, among much more.
Special guests will also be present at the event, including Ron Finch, a motorcycle artist who is known worldwide for his iconic and unique custom motorcycles. Using found metal, he creates objects such as creatures and plants. Finch is also known for creating a giant motorcycle. He has been featured on the Discovery Channel’s television program “Biker Build Off.” Finch has also been featured on the Speed Channel, National Geographic, the Travel Channel and TLC.
Sousa shared, “Ron’s spectacular motorcycles are a plethora of mechanical mayhem and true artistic genius. Finch is considered the original ‘custom motorcycle’ creator.”
The Bike Competition, a fan favorite, will return as part of the Springfield Motorcycle Show. Everyday motorcycle owners, advanced builders and start-up shops will compete for trophies and cash prizes. The competition is sponsored by Haymond Law, who is open about its support for the motorcycle community year-round.
The Springfield Motorcycle Show is the ideal destination for motorcyclists looking for new gear. Several dealers from the Northeast will be present at the event, providing deals on their equipment.
The Feature Builder for the 2019 show is Larry Vaughn, three time winner of Hot Bike Tour “Best of Show.” Vaughn is the owner of LV’s House of Boost in Stafford Springs. He has been featured in Easy Rider, Hot Bike, American Iron and Baggers Magazine. Guests to the show will have the opportunity to meet Vaughn in person.
Sousa stated, “Larry is a well-recognized expert in the motorcycle industry and we are excited to have this master craftsman and three-time Hot Bike Tour winner with us at the show.”
Gloria Struck, Sturgis Hall of Fame and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee and author of “Gloria – A Lifetime Motorcyclist: 75 Years on Two Wheels and Still Riding” will be hosting a book signing and meet and greet during the Springfield Motorcycle Show. Now, at the age of 92, Gloria continues to ride motorcycles.
The Easy Rider Traveling Road Show will be on site for observance. The mobile museum features replicas of bikes, movie posters and memorabilia from the classic film “Easy Rider.” Sousa said, “The Road Show display has it all, yet it continues to grow. Each year, new rare pieces are uncovered and added to the Traveling Road Show.”
There will also be a display that dives into motorcycle history by the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA.) Sousa explained, “Attendees can get a glimpse into motorcycling history with a great array of antique motorcycles. AMCA displays fantastic bikes of the past.”
The popular Rockabilly Biker Babe Competition, hosted by Rock 102’s Dan Williams and ran by the All-American Angels will return for 2019. Competitors are encouraged to wear their best 1950s rockabilly outfits for a chance to win a prize. Women of all ages are invited to participate in the show. The winner is determined by audience applause.
Guests are welcome to participate in the 2019 Motorcycle Competition, sponsored by Haymond Law Firm. Show attendees vote for the People’s Choice award during the event. Entry forms are available on www.osegmotorcycle.com.
Live music will be performed by SHOVELHEAD on the Main Stage, where several other events will take place during the event. K. Peddlar Bridges, “The Road Poet” and author of “Laconia Motorcycle Week 1916 - The Beginning” will be present to read his original works on the Main Stage. The Main Stage will also feature a Motorcycle Fashion Show, where models will present new styles for the upcoming riding season.
The Tattoo Competition will take place at the Main?Stage. Guests are invited to take the stage and show off their tattoos for the chance to win a prize.
On the final day of the Springfield Motorcycle Show, an Award Ceremony is hosted on the Main?Stage, where the results of the Bike Competition are announced. It is the wrap-up to the weekend.
