WEST SPRINGFIELD – On July 15, the West Springfield’s Visiting Angels moved into a new office at 33 Westfield St., Suite 1, to accommodate their growing client base.
Visiting Angels is a personal home care service with branches across the country. Staff members provide seniors with companionship and daily activities assistance to help people age in place.
“We’re actually right down the street from our old office,” said Executive Assistant Claire Williams. She explained. “This is a much larger space with lots of natural light. There’s room upstairs for networking, caregiver training, and so it’s a much better space.” She also said it is in a much more visible location.
Visiting Angels certainly needs the space. Since March, the number of care hours that the company has provided has doubled, said Staffing Supervisor Helen S. Gobeil.
“The best advertising is word of mouth,” Gobeil said, adding that clients have responded to the work that the company has done in home care. That said, she noted there are additional reasons for the increase.
“A lot of it during the pandemic was a lot of not wanting to be in the care facilities,” Gobeil said. Long-term residential care facilities have been hotbeds for COVID-19 transmission throughout the pandemic.
Opening in 1999, the West Springfield franchise provides over 70,000 hours of care each year. They help with administering medication, preparing meals, household chores and errands, bathing, dressing, and other care as needed. Visiting Angels has clients in Agawam, Holyoke, Chicopee, Wilbraham, Longmeadow, Feeding Hills and Montgomery.
“We look forward to extending to you a warm welcome in our new space and continuing to expand and provide high-quality care to your loved ones,” the company said in a press release.
