West Springfield Boys and Girls Club to host “Clubtoberfest”

Date: 9/28/2021

WEST SPRINGFIELD – The West Springfield Boys and Girls Club recently announced that they will be hosting “Clubtoberfest,” a concert fundraiser to benefit local nonprofits and fellow civic organizations. This inaugural event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 16, at 4 p.m., located at the Morgan Road Pavilion on 429 Morgan Rd.

Sarah Calabrese, resource development director of the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club, said this event was created by herself and the club’s Executive Director Dan D’Angelo. “[We] wanted to bring the community together to support our fellow nonprofits and civic organizations,” said Calabrese.

The concert will kick off with the Theater of Malum, a rock group formed by West Springfield High School students, followed by the headliner, Unforgettable Fire, a U2 Tribute Band.

“A prize and chance to win a trip to Ireland will be awarded to the best dressed rocker,” shared Calabrese. “The Irish Cultural Center donated raffle tickets for a chance to win a trip to Ireland. We thought this would be a great prize for the winner because our headliner, Unforgettable Fire, is a U2 tribute band and the members of U2 are from Ireland.” The Irish Cultural Center will be pulling the winners for the trip set for 2022.

Ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit the Boys and Girls Club’s Before and After School Programs. “Food and beverage sales benefit the West Springfield Lions Club and the Rotary Club of West Springfield, while a portion of the ticket sales will go directly to the West Springfield/Agawam Parish Cupboard,” said Calabrese. Additionally, the CARE Coalition will be hosting a raffle to raise funds.

Proceeds from Clubtoberfest will support the following initiatives: the West Springfield Boys and Girls Club programs for children's and teens; the Rotary Club of West Springfield’s Community Grants Program and global relief efforts; the West Springfield Lions Club community services projects, veteran support and scholarships for youth; the West Springfield/Agawam Parish Cupboard food supply program for families in need; and the West Springfield CARE Coalition prevention and education efforts to address and eliminate underage alcohol and substance use. Clubtoberfest tickets are $25 each and are on sale now at https://wsbgclub.org.
