FEEDING HILLS – A local group known as KSH Vendor Events hosted the Help the Animals Craft and Vendor Event on July 31, to raise money for Whip City Animal Farm and Sanctuary.
The event took place at St. David’s Church, where Kelly Horton, KSH Vendor Events member and creator of this event said they had a “great turnout.” Attendees were able to browse through crafts such as sea glass, wreaths, dream catchers and more; all made by local entrepreneurs.
KSH Vendor Events consists of a small group of friends – all working to help nonprofits. As a group, they researched 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Massachusetts and stumbled upon Whip City Farm.
Whip City Farm is located at 232 Montgomery Road in Westfield. According to their Facebook page, Whip City Farm “provides a forever home for animals who are unwanted, neglected or abused.” From goats, horses, sheep and more, Whip City has a variety of animals for visitors to come and see.
During the event, raffles took place. Horton explained that all of the raffle and beneficiary money went toward Whip City Farm.
On July 7, Horton and a few volunteers visited Whip City Farm to present them with the “big check.” In total, KSH Vendor Events raised $425 alone in the raffle, and donated that directly to Whip City Farm.
“They deserve it. They do a lot for the town,” said Horton. “This was a big success for Whip City Farm.”
She added, “It’s exciting to see how much support [we] get for these nonprofits.”
KSH will be hosting several other events in 2021. On Aug. 22, there will be a “Breathe Free or Ride Hard” motorcycle ride for cystic fibrosis. This will take place at the Polish American Club in Agawam, 139 Southwick St.
On Oct. 9, they will be back at St. David’s Church, 699 Springfield St., for a “Support Our Veterans Craft and Vendor Fair.” Nov. 13, KSH will host another event at the Polish American Club for the Liberty House in New Hampshire – “helping veterans get a leg up and get acclimated back into society,” said Horton.
