WILBRAHAM – The Wilbraham Women’s Club will be hosting their annual Fashion Show Luncheon on Oct. 27 in the Saint Cecilia Parish Center on 42 Main St. Fashions will be presented by Rosewood Home & Gifts, a boutique shop that sells ladies’ fashion, specialty food items, accessories, home decor and gifts in Hampden, Westfield, and the Lee Premium Outlets.
This event is a scholarship and community service fundraiser. All of the proceeds will go toward four $1,000 scholarships to Hampden and Wilbraham students at Minnechaug Regional High School as well as the Wilbraham Public Library, veterans, women’s shelter and various local donations. There will be a social hour at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon at 12 p.m. There is a choice of chicken with cranberry orange sauce or filet of sole with seafood stuffing. The $28 fee also includes salad, vegetable, rolls, coffee, tea, and dessert.
“This is one of our biggest fundraisers for our club,” said Vice President Sue Rigney. “This is Rosewood Home & Gifts’ first year doing our fashion show. They’re providing all of the fashions from business wear to sportswear to casual to formal wear for all ages. Along with shoes, handbags and jewelry.”
Owner Jillian Knapp of Rosewood Home & Gifts added, “The women were in the store shopping and asked if we did any fashion shows. They told us about their fundraiser and would love to have us there. Then it just came together from there. We’ll have a little bit of everything from ponchos, sweaters. jeans, fall tops and jackets.”
Formed in 1904, the Wilbraham Women’s Club promotes and educates literacy, artistic and scientific culture throughout the corporation among women’s contribution to the civic life of the community. They’re an organization that meets once a month serving different people to their needs.
We’re hoping to get as many people as we possibly can,” Rigney said. “It would be great if we could get anywhere between 60 and 85 if not more. This event gives awareness and helps raise funds for the club. It’s exciting, informative and an opportunity to meet new people.”
