Board approves appointments, resignations in Hardwick

Date: 3/8/2023

HARDWICK – Several matters were discussed during the Hardwick Board of Selectmen meeting on Feb. 27.

In a little over one month, the town election will take place on April 10. Town Administrator Nicole Parker explained that there are three contested races: Board of Selectmen, Board of Health and School Committee.

Appointments

Planning Board Chair Eric Vollheim asked the Board of Selectmen to appoint several people to join the Master Plan Steering Committee. The following individuals were appointed: Bill Cole, Mikaela Raymond, Lisa Condit, Lisa Cohen, Tammy Bourgeois, Paul Benoit and Warren Johnson. Their terms will expire on June 30, with reappointments being made annually thereafter.

Andrew Ronnau was appointed to the Hardwick Police Department as a full-time officer.

Resignations

Board of Selectmen Chair Julie Quink made a motion to “regretfully” accept the resignation of Gloria Judd from the Council on Aging, effective immediately.

Quink asked Parker if there was an issue that led to this resignation as she was “very much a proponent” of the Hardwick Council on Aging. Parker said the resignation was found under her door, but she would reach out to learn more information.

Erik Fleming resigned from the Master Plan/Community Development Advisory Committee. The Board of Selectmen accepted his resignation.

New website

Julie Murkette, who is responsible for updating the town of Hardwick’s website, shared that improvements have been made and the new website is live. Although there are some issues with it, she is hoping everything will be resolved soon. Murkette noted that she has received positive feedback about the new website.

Easter Egg Hunt

Parker said that the second annual Park and Rec Easter Egg Hunt will be on April 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a rain date of April 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at Gilbertville Memorial Park.
