WARREN – The Quaboag Regional School District has selected its next superintendent and the choice is a familiar one.
Current Quaboag Regional Middle High School Principal Stephen Duff will step into his new role on July 1.
The School Committee announced the appointment at the Jan. 30 meeting with interim Superintendent Maureen Binienda opening the floor to the committee for the official announcement.
Contract negotiations had been ongoing during November and December 2022 between the committee and Duff, who accepted the position. Committee members indicated they selected ”the perfect internal candidate” over outside submissions.
Duff has been with the district for 10 years, spending half that time at Warren Community Elementary before moving up to Quaboag Middle High School.
Committee members praised Duff’s dedication and work ethic, noting he is well respected by staff and students alike.
In congratulating Duff, Binienda said, “I think you [the committee] made the right decision … I was totally impressed with him.”
Binienda will be working directly with the incoming superintendent over the next six months.
“We have something special at Quaboag,” Duff said, addressing the committee, “I believe in the teachers, I believe in the community and I think we have a ton to offer …”
