HARDWICK – Following the closure of an emergency medical services (EMS) survey, the Hardwick Ambulance is working to evaluate the results.
Raymond Walker, fire chief, said, “The results from the survey were mostly positive and in favor of EMS coverage in Hardwick, although we didn’t get quite the response we had expected.”
The survey was disseminated on social media and the town of Hardwick’s website.“We are looking into doing another survey, possibly a mailing to town residents, to see if we can gather more information,” said Walker.
He continued, “Regarding the EMS coverage, talks are still ongoing with the Ambulance Feasibility Committee, and we look forward to having another meeting in the next few weeks.”
Walker told Reminder Publishing that the Hardwick Rescue Squad’s Board of Directors, not affiliated with the town of Hardwick, has agreed to use their remaining funds to assist with training and certifying emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
Currently in Hardwick, Walker said there are only two EMTs on staff.
He concluded, “All in all, things are looking bright for the future and the Hardwick Fire Department is excited to work with our town to continue to provide the best emergency services possible.”
