WARREN – The poor conditions of the Maple and Southbridge Street CSX bridge have been reported in hopes of improving the existing structure.
During the Jan. 12 Board of Selectmen meeting, Chairman David Dufresne said they have been receiving complaints from residents driving under or walking near the bridge.
Town Administrator James Ferrera shared he was able to coordinate with Police Chief Gerald Millette to get in touch with someone at CSX.
Ferrera was able to file a report with a CSX representative for their Division of Inspectional Services. The report was filed on Jan. 11. By the next Board of Selectmen meeting on Jan. 26, he said a letter will have been sent out as well. Dufresne asked that pictures of the bridge be included in the letter.
He went on to say that people have been handing in “chunks” of the bridge that have fallen off. As the columns supporting the bridge are completely rotted at the bottom, pieces of the bridge are diminishing, said Dufresne.
The town has received a tracking number of the actual report to follow along throughout the process.
