WARREN – Looking to get rid of your old or unused items? There is still time to register for the Warren and West Warren Town Wide Tag Sale.
On Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the annual event. According to Commissioner Suzanne Ramsey, the town wide tag sale was started by another group five years ago but has been coordinated by the Parks and Rec for three years.
In years past, she said they have had nearly 70 participants. At press time, less than 20 people have registered their sites.
On the day of the event, Ramsey said they will be selling maps of the town at the gazebo on the town common for $2. The map includes numbers and arrows that indicate which homes are participating in the tag sale. She noted that there will be an alphabetical list of street names of those registered, along with a brief explanation on the items that can be found at each location.
To be listed on the map, registration must be completed by Sept. 1. For a single-family site, the cost is $10, and a multi-family site is $25. Interested participants can register online by visiting unipaygold.unibank.com (search for Warren Parks and Recreation), or make a check payable to Town of Warren, and mail it and a registration form to Marlene Downing, P.O. Box 301, 688 Reed St., West Warren, MA 01092.
Ramsey noted that for people like herself who live on the outskirts of town, they have offered the opportunity for a centralized site. The location has not been determined, as the offering solely depends on the number of people interested.
Ramsey went on to say that the Town Wide Tag Sale is “not really a money maker” for the Parks and Recreation Department, but a way for the community to come together.
“We are excited to have [the tag sale] again,” said Ramsey. “We’ve had great turnouts in the past.” She added that it is enjoyable to see all the people “shuffling” around town, interacting with one another and searching for goods.
