WARREN — On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Warren Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting two events — the townwide tag sale and the fireworks celebration.
Park Commissioner Sue Ramsey said, “It’s good for us to have community events that bring people together. Both of these events do that.”
She went on to say, “We’ve had some successful town-wide tag sales over the past years where we’ve had many people selling and many people coming to see our town that maybe otherwise wouldn’t be here. We’ve held our fireworks event for many years and they’re always well attended.”
The tag sale is a rain or shine event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. People can register to have their addresses listed on a map. If someone in town wants to be a seller, they can register at unipaygold.unibank.com. It costs $10 per address to get on the map. If someone is a buyer and want to look at all of the yard sales, they can purchase a map for $2. The Parks and Recreation Department will hand out those maps the day of the tag sale starting at 7:45 a.m. at the Town Common by the gazebo in Warren.
“We’ll have all of the addresses to drive all over town and seek out the yard sales they’re interested in,” Ramsey added.
The fireworks celebration will take place at Quaboag Regional M.H. School on 284 Old West Brookfield Rd. There’ll be musical entertainment from Stomp N’ Holler starting at 6 p.m., a bounce house free for children and refreshments available for purchase run by the graduating class of 2024. Proceeds from purchases goes towards supporting Quaboag Regional High School groups. Fireworks will go off at dark from 8:45-9 p.m.
“I love seeing people be involved in the town,” Ramsey replied. “We’re a small town and we try to host as many things as we can do that will bring people together to enjoy our town.”
