WARREN – To ring in the holiday cheer, Warren will be hosting their annual tree lighting on Nov. 27.
From 4 to 7 p.m. the common and downtown area will be packed with a variety of vendors, events and Santa Claus.
Suzanne Ramsey, Parks and Recreation commissioner, said all town businesses, organizations, crafters, direct sales crafters and churches are welcome to participate for free.
This year, Mason’s Grille will be hosting an open house with bread bowls available for purchase. The Warren Water Department will be offering kids holiday activities, Glenda’s Pub will have an ornament activity and the Warren Library will be providing live musical entertainment refreshments and more, to name a few.
The tree lighting will occur at 6 p.m. on the common. Ramsey shared; they have a new Christmas tree that stands 14 feet tall. “We are really excited about that,” she said.
Also, on the common, there will be musical entertainment and a performance from the Quaboag Regional Middle/High School chorus.
Ramsey said the Parks and Recreation Department will be offering s’mores to enjoy alongside a warm fire, cider from Breezelands Orchard, line dancing with the Dance Factory, live animals, jewelry and other items for sale.
She noted that Farm Based Mental Health Therapy information will be provided by Tam O’Shanter Farm, wreaths will be sold by the Warren Fire Department, there will be holiday safety instruction by the Community Emergency Response Team, along with even more vendors.
To top off the excitement of the night, attendees can enjoy a free horse drawn wagon ride.
For 26 years, the Warren Library put on this townwide event. Ramsey explained that this is a transition year and moving forward, the Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting it. “We are excited to keep this tradition going for years and years,” she said.
Warren residents can help the Police Department stuff a cruiser for the Jingle Fund. Ramsey said unwrapped gifts, gift cards and money donations are welcome.
