Air Show Snub

Honor Flight New England honors World War II veterans with free flights to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials at no cost to the veterans. I was among 35 Bay State World War II vets who participated in the flight in March and took part in the commemorative events at the World War II Memorial.

The Boston Globe ran two photos named, "saluting the heroes" with the Boston Herald having a photo named, "Hollywood spotlight shines on Bay State vets."

While World War II veterans were treated as "heroes" then, they are not treated as "heroes" by the air show at Barnes Airport Aug. 21 and 22.

World War II veterans have not received invitations to the air show. Some may attend with their wheel chairs, walkers and canes. With the end of World War II on Dec. 31, 1946, they are at least 83 years old with some in the nineties and hundreds. For instance, I will be 90 on Nov. 20.

World War II veterans would appreciate recognition for their services in as they are faced with the last "hurrah" in their twilight years.

Remember Pearl Harbor.
