Baker’s exit changes nothing in state’s politics

Date: 12/15/2021

The Reminder opinion titled “Baker’s Announcement Changes Massachusetts’ Political Landscape” (The Pennysaver, Dec. 9, page 7) should be more accurately be titled “Baker's Announcement Changes Nothing about Massachusetts Political Landscape.” Massachusetts is a solid blue, 2-to-1 state of Democrats who faithfully vote for the progressive Democrat agenda. Remember, this is the state that faithfully voted for Ted Kennedy for 40 years. Ted was a liberal first in the voters’ minds, and a distant second as a man who left a girl to die in a car wreck as being acceptable.

The author of this opinion cites a recent poll that if Republican Baker decided to run, any Democrat would be the underdog. This poll showed Baker to be the most popular governor, but it also listed Bernie Sanders as the most popular senator? I know these poll takers and the media have shifted left, but there is no way that the same people were asked to vote for their favorite governor and their favorite senator at the same time or place. This poll was and is a political scam.

It calls Baker the “classic Massachusetts Republican.” The classic Massachusetts Republican governor is like MSNBC hiring Republican Joe Scarborough to be a host and televise their progressive agenda. MSNBC can say, “see, we have a Republican who agrees with us. We are right.” Gov. Baker and Joe Scarborough are cut from the roll. They want a job and they will toe the line of the people who hold the power over them. More too often it is not the voters who hold the power, but that is what the polls and the media want to hold up as the truth. Yes, I will use the RINO description and gladly offend the liberals.

I can go down to the local courthouse and legally change my name to Tom Brady, but that does not mean tomorrow I will wake up next to a Brazilian supermodel and control the outcome of a football game like no one has done before. A Republican governor in Massachusetts is like putting me, a 69-year-old man named Tom Brady, into the game to pull out the winning score. The media spin and bogus polls are not going to change it, either.
