Camel attraction treats animals well

Date: 10/5/2022

Ryan Henning, owner of the Camel Kingdom attraction at the Eastern States Exposition, sent the following letter in response to article “Protesters Ask Big E to Drop Wild Animal Carnival Attractions” in the Sept. 29 Agawam-West Springfield edition of The Reminder.

Camel Kingdom presents Sahara is an all-day visual and educational display, showcasing the most rare breeds of dromedary camels in the entire world. We do not offer camel rides at the Big E. The camels are bedded down on over 8 inches of sand to ensure their comfort, with a large area for them to run around. When not on the road educating the public at events, our camels run on over 20 acres of grass pasture at home in the Tampa, FL, area, having access to trees, sand piles, mud holes to splash and play in, etc.

Our camel family members receive the absolute highest standards of care 24/7. We provide them with the best veterinary care and medicine if needed. Camels are in fact domestic (not wild) animals like dogs, horses, cows, etc.

Our camels are living longer, healthier, happier and safer lives in our care at Camel Kingdom.

They travel in a 53-foot, custom-designed, climate-controlled feather-lite horse trailer that is custom built extra tall and wide to ensure their comfort during travel.

All of our camels are bottle raised and they’ve been around people their entire life.

We build a strong relationship with all of our camel family members; a relationship that is based off of mutual trust, respect and understanding.
I encourage everyone to stop by Camel Kingdom and see for themselves how they are cared for.
