It didn't take long, but it appears the inmates have taken over the asylum. I thought Mike Wrabel worked for Robin Crosbie, who worked for the Select Board, who in turn, worked for the citizens of Longmeadow. The May 5 Select Board meeting had Wrabel defying the orders of the Select Board to open the Turner Park athletic fields for the use of the kid. Both Selectman Santaniello and Select Board Chairman Haberman have inspected the field in person and declared it fit for use. Wrabel wouldn't give an inch. A private group has invested $43,000 in an irrigation system and the town has spent $15,000 to fertilize the fields. Wrabel still says NO! While Wrabel was flexing his muscle, where was Crosbie? In any event, Wrabel must do what he has been ordered to do or he should leave. Let Wrabel quit if he has principles that say he will leave if his decisions are overridden. Surely we can get an employee who will obey orders. We elected the Select Board to make these decisions. Wrabel was appointed, not elected by the voters. Do as the Select Board requested. Open Turner Park fields now. Sam and Susie Altman Longmeadow |
