The local news has recently broadcast a great deal of information regarding the East Longmeadow rotary. The number of accidents per year has been discussed, the placing of orange barrels to make the double lanes into single lanes, however, the obvious was not stated – poor driving. Many, way too many, drivers have the “gun it and go, I'm special, I'm in a hurry, get out of my way” attitude.
Accidents would greatly diminish at the rotary and elsewhere, if drivers were pulled over and ticketed for speeding, running red lights, crossing lane markers etc. If there is no consequence for poor driving it will continue as will the accidents.
