Gambling money has consequences
Date: 5/21/2012
May 21, 2012We are concerned Springfield Mayor Sarno and Development Officer Kennedy are galloping towards the gambling money with blinders on and not looking at all the aspects and consequences.
Springfield's budget is extremely tight, yet they are spending money to hire a gaming consultant.
A resort casino should be put out all by itself like they did in Connecticut, not plunked down in the middle of a city. Springfield is already having difficult dealing with traffic and crime.
To us, the "jobs" angle is bogus since it's an argument that can be used to justify anything.
We hope the citizens of Springfield will give this issue the long, hard look it deserves and not allow our mayor or any special interest group to ride roughshod.
