| Last December the National Intelligence Estimate, reflecting a consensus of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, reported Iran was not attempting to develop nuclear weapons. After a series of intrusive inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities, the International Atomic Energy Agency reached the same conclusion. President Bush dismissed both findings offering no evidence to the contrary. Here we go again. But this time a trumped up Iranian nuclear threat is an even more baseless scare tactic than Saddam Hussein's nonexistent weapons of mass destruction. Polls show a wide majority of people in the U.S. aren't buying it, favoring a diplomatic solution over military action against Iran. Too bad the White House and Congress aren't listening. Respected military analysts like John Pike, director of GlobalSecurity.org (a top tier defense and security consultancy), fully expect Bush to order the bombing of Iran before his term expires. A bi-partisan Congress is doing its part to enable Bush by providing 220 cosigners for HCR 362 which urges Bush to take measures against Iran that would require a U.S. naval blockade, an act of war under international law.
