Help for Food Pantry

Date: 4/29/2009

The Westfield Emergency Food Pantry would like to thank the generous people and businesses of Westfield and surrounding communities for their support helping in-need families throughout the City of Westfield.

For many years the Westfield Food Pantry, located at 101 Meadow St., opened its doors helping the families put food on the table. The pantry is run by volunteers that sort the pasties and can goods providing a supplement to those in need within the community.

Organizations and businesses help us through food drives trying to keep up with the volume of clients that need assistance.

Help within our organization is always needed. A cash donation by check, volunteering your time at the pantry, or food donations would help us with this on going mission. We are non-profit and money donations are tax deductible.

We have a screening process for the people who apply. Once on the program and in the data base, the pantry keeps records so we meet the client's needs.

Most people, believe it or not, are basically honest and wouldn't utilize a food pantry unless they really were in need of help. Most clients have short-term food needs, just enough time to get over a bump in life or find a job.

As an officer of this organization I would like to ask the community to consider making a donation, volunteering, or think of us in the future.

We are an Open Food pantry for our community; a little help will go a long way keeping us afloat. Hours for the pantry are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. until noon; Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

To contact us by phone, call 572-0802. An answering service is available if the pantry is closed; please leave a message and a phone number where you can be reached. Thank you for your consideration.
