Holiday parade disappoints reader

I attended the [East Longmeadow] July 4 parade with my husband. In past years there have been many bands and much more music. This year’s parade was an endless stream of car’s or floats advertising their businesses.

That’s not exactly what I believe a Fourth of July parade should be. Some cars or trucks had no patriotic decorations at all, just their business signs. If I wanted to see that, I could stay home and turn on the TV and watch advertising.

I hope next year’s parade will be much better. Where were the Oompahs? Where were the clowns?
