As a member of the Terminal Generation, I basically read this same story 50 years ago when I was in my 20s (“Climate Change Is Here Whether You Ignore It or Not,” The Pennysaver, page 7, Oct. 31). The story has been retold over and over a thousand times through those five decades. They all like to use the same predictions where your grandkids are born into a world of the Soylent Greens, the Planet of the Apes, the Mad Max scenarios. The climate alarmists are correct to say that carbon monoxide is a poison gas that hurts us, but any unchecked radical effort to abandon fossil fuels for a total renewable energy is madness, totally wrong, and will prove deadly long before the oceans raise one more inch.
This is the way of the left to deal with any issue. They are bad administrators and even worse planners, look no further then the Biden administration with their pro-green “Inflation Reduction Act.” It makes companies flush with cash today to promote green products. In the close coming years, the company budgets that depend on these free monies to continue production will need more free budgets. An administration like Biden’s that has profited personal millions has no sense of the economy or how to run a business. Their business model is loans that do not need repayment or future students who do not need to pay tuition. Their desire to maintain the power is unchecked illegal immigration and the bounty of free food, housing, and medical care.
A government that tries to create an economy by destroying one that works will leave us in ruins. China has already been honest enough to tell us they will do things their own way for energy and their economic future. Without an economy, our future is made with components, products and services made in, and beholding to, China. It’s OK to promote a green future, but without a vibrant economy ... “ignore it or not,” “It’s all about American energy companies (and every other American company) making more money, it’s about the next quarterly report.”
This is a common failing of the Green Party, the Left, the media, and an American president who has spent his entire life in public service but somehow doesn’t concern himself if the price milk goes to $40 a gallon because his bank accounts also outpace inflation without accountability or economic sense as to where this money came from. If you care for your grandchildren, teach them yourself better than this, as a start.
