What happened to the mechanism voted by our state Legislature several years ago that relieved them from the onerous task of voting for their own pay raises? You will recall their raises would go into effect automatically and would be tied to the cost of living? What was wrong with that? Also doing away with the per-diem and substituting $20,000 additional to their pay favors the representatives and senators who live closer to Boston, Not surprising, is it?
