I hope my fellow citizens of East Longmeadow will turn out May 1 at the town meeting to vote on Article 23. Our community is a collection of residential neighborhoods. We are not Boston Road, we are not Route 9 in Hadley, we are not West Springfield. Those communities have chosen to go down a certain path that has led to congested streets, higher police costs, and a lowered quality of life. But we don't have to imitate those other communities that welcomed all the huge, sprawling developments. We can set limits in East Longmeadow that are compatible with a small town. That's pro business, that helps us keep our small town merchants, and avoid some of the costly development mistakes that some towns have made. On May 1, I'm voting Yes on Article 23, for the good of East Longmeadow. Donald Gamache East Longmeadow |
