I ask for all legislators in Western Massachusetts and all soccer players statewide to support House Bill number 220 concussion and head injury to help prevent concussions in soccer. My bill under the Massachusetts State Constitution will save the state of Massachusetts under Medicaid – an estimate of billion dollars or more under Medicaid.
Brain injury rehabilitation is expensive, ask any hospital in Massachusetts. We need to do a better job in protecting our athletes from a concussion in all sports. My soccer head gear bill is just a start to help make it law in the state of Massachusetts.
Here is something about me I have told no athlete in Western Massachusetts – I am a traumatic brain injury survivor since 1952 to present, cause of injury was from a fall from my parents’ porch stairs when I lived in Newton Highlands MA – just to let soccer players know there is no cure for a traumatic brain injury.
Prevention is the only cure for a brain injury. Iif you want to know more about concussion and traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury call 1-800-242-0030. Tell them I referred you.
I was an advocate for this organization for 27 years. I dedicated my life in saving lives to children and adults. My new volunteer job now is working at the front desk for the American Red Cross in Springfield Massachusetts on Tuesdays.
Volunteering is fun when you help people even though you don’t get paid. Vote yes On House Bill number 220 Concussion and Head Injury. Thanks for listening to my concerns.
