Thank you from the Girl Scouts

Date: 7/27/2022

Once again, as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts in South Hadley, it is with much gratitude that I reach out to say Thank You to another local business that has stepped up to help us out. This year, Michael Mendes from A.C.T. Vehicle Equipment, in Westfield, has donated a lightly used 60 inch riding mower to use at Camp Lewis Perkins, in South Hadley. Michael has been a long time supporter of the Girl Scouts, and was aware of the age (over 25 years) and condition of the existing mowing equipment at the camp. Knowing that, when he saw the opportunity to obtain this mower, he immediately thought of the Girl Scouts and called to see if it was something we were interested in. Needless to say, we were very interested. After just two weeks of learning to operate the new mower, and mowing, the time to mow the camp has gone from an hour and a half to less than 45 minutes.

As a nonprofit organization, the Girl Scouts are typically under funded and under staffed to accomplish all that needs to be done. Volunteers and community partners like A.C.T. Vehicle Equipment are the backbone of keeping places like Camp Lewis Perkins operating. It warms my heart to see another company step up to help the Girl Scouts, as well as making my job as a volunteer much easier.

Thank you!
