On behalf of the Somers Cultural Commission, I would like to thank everyone who supported the Spring, Summer and Fall Concerts, held mostly outdoors at the Gazebo at 19 Battle St. in Somers. These three season concerts were a first for us and the appreciation shown by our audiences was beyond expectations.
We want to say thanks to our many generous sponsors, our fabulous entertainers and the use of Joanna‘s Restaurant when we had a couple of 2 day washouts. We are were able to safely have 18 shows go on this year with no cancellations, despite the weather and the continuing pandemic.
The Somers DPW, led by Todd Rolland, was always there to do whatever was needed at the Green as well as the installation of a new roof on Piedmont Hall for the very successful 2021 Art Show held last month.
Thanks to David Marti who always had snacks and beverages available to benefit the Scholarship Fund of the Rotary Club and to Jillian Connors and Florence Hurley who helped us with getting the supplies needed in and out of the Senior Center.
To the volunteer members, honorary members of the SCC and other helpers, you are the best group of people I have had the pleasure to work with, always positive, always helpful, always willing to try something new and to bring new ideas to the table and very fun to be with...to me, you are family!
Finally, to our enthusiastic, energetic (i.e. dancers) and so appreciative audiences...our numbers have grown over the three seasons of 2021 with familiar faces who have been there always but also so many new faces we have met from the surrounding areas, both near and far, that have become loyal fans, friends, even extended family. Thank you for your generosity in the Giving Pots at half-time and during our Sponsor Campaign. We will miss you but we will be back again in the spring of 2022, God willing! The Somers Cultural Commission is committed to being a positive community builder.
