Veterans Memorial Committee awarded $18K grant

The East Longmeadow Veterans Memorial Committee was recently awarded a Preservation Veterans' Heritage Grant for $18,337 from the Massachusetts State Historical Advisory Board (SHRAB). Veterans Heritage Grants are given for Veterans Memorials, Monuments and
Collections.

The amount of this grant will be applied towards the construction of the East Longmeadow Veterans Memorial which will be located at 328 N. Main Street (front of the Senior Center), East Longmeadow.  

Eligible projects for the award of this grant must be relevant to veterans and their military encounters and may include proposals to construct new markers for historical significance or enhancement of existing  monuments and memorials. This type grant provides state matching funds of up to 50 percent of a project's total cost, but applicants can only apply for up to $20,000 (per project) in a funding cycle.

The East Longmeadow Veterans Memorial Committee expresses their sincere appreciation to the Secretary of the Commonwealth, William Francis Galvin, and the Massachusetts State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) for considering and granting this award for the construction of the Veterans Memorial in East Longmeadow.
