I am writing to encourage my fellow Longmeadow residents to attend the special town meeting at Longmeadow High School on Aug. 20 and to vote YES on Article 1.
A “Yes” vote will ban the construction of a gas industrial facility such as a gas metering station in any of Longmeadow’s residential zones. This vote will also tell the gas companies that Longmeadow is serious about protecting the health and safety of its residents, especially children and senior. Voting “Yes” will protect our property values and preserve our identity as a residential community. Also, voting “Yes” will cost taxpayers nothing. In fact, it will probably save ratepayers money, since they will not have to pay for the high-pressure pipeline proposed to run north up Shaker and Laurel Streets into Springfield.
If you care about Longmeadow and your fellow residents’ safety, health, and well-being, please vote yes on Aug. 20.
