Your editorials continue to express your "left wing" leanings and I guess I am, as you described this past week, as "folks on the right wing." Your article on talk radio is accurate except you failed to complete the analysis as to the reasons for talk radio's 91 percent weekly programming being conservative. My guess for its success is that for the past 15 plus years TV networks such as CBS, NBC, CNN and ABC have been at least 75 percent liberal in its news coverage and editorials, and the past 5 years or so have been open about it and made no excuses. This has been okay with liberal journalists and politicians. For the 50 percent or so of the nation that is conservative, however, this created a communications void in hearing balanced news and viewpoints. Radio stations that needed to increase their marketing saw this opportunity to fill this void and conservative talk radio was born and has grown with amazing success. Seeing this growth, Fox News was developed and I believe its ratings have significantly impacted on the other major TV networks. The fact that conservatives now have the ability to voice opinions via talk radio, as liberals continue to have their outlet via TV networks is causing concern among those "folks on the left wing." I thought I heard that California's Dianne Feinstein is floating a bill for the purpose of requiring radio stations that air conservative views to be required to air equal and opposite responses. Would such a bill also require TV networks to also give equal opportunity for opposing views? Hopefully this is not true and just a rumor, perhaps you can comment on this.
