8/17/2010 2:30:48 PM | It seems to be a inclination of mine to have to retort whenever someone says things like, "how can you argue against [fill in the blank]? What is great fascination with "issues on which many people could agree"? This time it is using American tax dollars for U.S.-made goods only. So, not only must we subsidize these companies in order to "compete" with foreign corporations, but also mandate the purchase their manufactured products exclusively. You do realize that these foreign companies employ over 5 million U.S. citizens. I'm quite sure most of these folks are keeping dollars here in America. This policy strikes me as a renewed form of mercantilism that was long ago debunked by Adam Smith. | | |
