Question: How have you adjusted to your first professional training camp? Geoff Paukovich: It's been a transition, I spent the previous few seasons playing college hockey, so coming to the rink as a pro has been a little different. Training camp has been a learning experience, we would practice for a couple of hours, and also do some work in the weight room. Overall, it's been a good experience. Question: How did it feel to attend the Edmonton Oilers rookie camp earlier this year and put on an NHL jersey? Geoff Paukovich: It was amazing, to be able to participate in an NHL camp is a great feeling, it's my first year pro and I just want to work hard each day. The rookie camp was a great experience, to be able to get a chance to see how I match up against other rookies was a good test and I was happy to have the opportunity. Question: How was your experience at the University of Denver? Geoff Paukovich: It was very exciting, I grew up in Colorado and rooting for the University of Denver, so that was a huge thrill to play for the Denver program. It's a great place to play and I was fortunate to have a chance to put on the Pioneers jersey. Question: You were a member of the 2005 National Championship team at Denver, did that experience help you know what it takes to win? Geoff Paukovich: I think anytime you have a chance to be part of a championship, you feel very lucky to have that moment. We had a great group of guys at Denver and it was a fun place to be, I enjoyed every day, but I am ready to work hard as a pro and earn a spot in Springfield. Question: What are your goals during training camp? Geoff Paukovich: Just to try and earn a spot on the roster. There are a lot of guys competing for a chance to play in Springfield and I just want to compete hard every day. |
