The Falcon's Respond

With a week of hard work, some teaching and some re-enforcing taking place in practice, the Falcons respond with their best three game stretch of the season.

A tough weekend with three games in three nights and all against divisional opponents...with just a few points separating four teams, it was an opportunity to get into the thick of things within the division.

And that the Falcons did! Outstanding goaltending, timely scoring and some good old fashioned simple, sound, fundamental hockey proved to be the recipe for success. First a 3-2 OT win in Manchester, followed by an exciting come-from-behind shootout win against Providence back home in the Mass Mutual Center. No rest for the weary as the team finishes the weekend off right with a gutsy 3-2 victory in Lowell. Boutin is outstanding in the wins on Friday and Saturday and Gerald Coleman, on recall from Johnstown, gets the job done in Lowell. With Karri Ramo on recall to Tampa for their weekend game, we needed and received big efforts from Jonathon and Gerald. Our streak came to a screeching halt on Wednesday, as we let ourselves down in a 4-2 loss to the Lowell Devils. Our guys let Lowell take control of us as it took us 10 minutes to have our first shot on net. I was disappointed in the effort considering our recent success, but we've proved that we can bounce back and we will do it again.

With short time to prepare for yet another busy weekend, the Falcons looked ahead to upcoming games against Albany and Worcester. With two of the three being divisional games, it shapes up to be an important week as the Falcons continue to stay or climb in the standings.

Overall, the team was better defensively and got timely scoring. The veteran line of Healey-Corso-Milley continues to show the way with their play and leadership on and off the ice.

The young prospects (Jones, Smaby, Keller, Lascek and all the young goalies) appear to be playing with more confidence as they develop at a good pace.

See you at the NEST soon!! .'Till next week! Coach Stirling
